Shasta County California Arts Council
Our commitment as an organization is to
promote the arts and public interest in the arts, to provide assistance and
services to arts organizations, institutions and individuals, and to
significantly enhance the impact of the arts and arts education on the
quality of life in Shasta County.
The Shasta County Arts Council provides accessibility to the Arts for all

• Low-cost or free ticket prices to events,
performances and exhibitions at Old City Hall
• Low-cost classes and workshops
• Free access to arts information through SCAC's in-house reference library
and online website (www.shastaartscouncil.org) The Shasta County Arts
Council provides afford-able support services to local Artists, Arts groups
and community organizations through
• Low rental fees for the use of Old City Hall and affiliations
• Low commissions on sales of artwork through the SCAC Gallery Store and
Gallery Exhibitions
• Umbrella services for local (start-up) Arts organizations seeking
non-profit status
• Discounts on facility use fees, tickets and gallery purchases for SCAC

Council supports Arts in Education for all community members through
• Subsidized bus fares to performances and exhibitions for students
attending private, public, and charter schools
• After-school Artist Residencies (grant supported)
• Scholarships for graduating seniors continuing their education in the Arts
after high school
• Scholarships for students attending the California Summer School for the
Arts The Shasta County Arts Council believes in community collaborations
• K.A.R.E (Kid's Arts Recreation Education) brings the Arts to children and
seniors living in transitional housing. A collaboration with Northern Valley
Catholic Social Services
• The Power is Yours Poster Contest and FOCUS Film Festival collaborations
with Far Northern Regional Center
• VIVA Downtown’s Annual Beer and Wine Festival
• Open Studios Tour collaboration with Turtle Bay Exploration Park
• New Library Now public art collaboration As a high school intern at SCAC,
an at-risk student was encouraged to pursue his interest in graphic arts. At
the age of 19, he earned an MTV award for his work on a Red Hot Chili
Peppers Video. By the age of 20, he was designing for the Xbox. A local
write self-publishes her children’s book. Several years later, a New York
agent finds the writer through SCAC’s online Artist Referral page. The book
is now being optioned for a movie.
